Spring Fever: Sunglasses are out and about!!!

Spring Fever has started this month! It's the start of the warm season where girls will be wearing their SUNNIES.

Sunnies have been popular on women of all ages and can be used in any season (particularly when the sun is out). Lately though it’s a fashion statement and accessory that girls match with their outfits.

Below are the 2017 popular trends and styles:

1.     Clubmaster Sunglasses - Popular in the 1950s and 60s, clubmasters — or brow line glasses— feature a slim frame along the top brow bar and circular, usually rimless lenses. According to sunglasses experts, these frames work best with a triangular-shaped face, a pair of semi-rimless clubmasters will look relaxed and stylish on many.

2.     Aviator Sunglasses - Aviator sunglasses, or "pilot's glasses", were originally developed in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb for pilots to protect their eyes while flying, thus the name aviator. This style of sunglasses is credited with being one the first popularized style of sunglasses to be developed.

3.     Cat Eye Sunglasses - Cat eye sunglasses are quite the craze due to the wear-ability for a wide range of faces. That's because there are really two distinct styles that fall under the cat-eye umbrella: the more traditional '50s swoop and a wider, softer '80s iteration. Plus, there are about a zillion variation on these general categories, ranging from uber-dramatic to mega-mainstream, so you're sure to find a shape that flatters your face and your personal taste.

4.     Wayfarer Sunglasses - Created by Ray-Ban designer Raymond Stegeman in 1952, the Wayfarer model has been one of the most popular sunglass shapes ever since. Though they have been worn by everyone from celebrities to politicians to high-profiled financiers, the success of the Wayfarer can be attributed to its design: Its natural, clean top bar and slightly curved rims are both versatile and effortlessly cool.

Whether you stick with a simple black pair or invest in some colorful shades, there's a perfect pair of Wayfarers for everyone.

5.     Oversized Sunglasses - What's more glamorous than a pair of oversized sunglasses? On your face, they give you a mysterious, movie-star look. On top of the head, they serve as a chic headband. Look for sunglasses with frame shapes to flatter your face. In general, choose the opposite of your face shape: rectangle for a round face and round shades for an angular face. However, large oval frames look good on most face shapes. Black or tortoise frames are classics and look good on almost everyone.

6.     Round Sunglasses – A timeless style that’s right on trend. Inspired by the counter-culture of the 1960’s, these timeless round sunglasses feature a retro look first worn by legendary musicians

There are so many sunglasses styles you can choose from and not only it will add style and character to your face. It will also protect you from the sun shining in your eyes. I am so glad we are coming into the spring/summer season so I can buy a new sunnies….

Cosmetic Chemical and Ecosystem Disruption and Human Health

By Rong Feng Today, I’d like to discuss hazardous cosmetic chemical – BHA and BHT. The chemical components of many products don’t break down and instead accumulate in our ecosystems. Cosmetics and personal care products do their most damage to the environment after they are washed down our sinks. The chemicals are recycled into our lakes, streams, rivers and public water systems. Here are some of the most environmentally damaging chemicals used in cosmetics, including which products you’ll find them in and what effect they have on our ecosystems. For example, t he cosmetics preservatives BHA and BHT also alter behaviour and causes death in fish and shellfish. BHA and BHT also cause genetic mutations in amphibians. BHA and BHT are synthetic antioxidants that are found in many lipsticks and moisturizers. With education and responsible purchasing practices, consumers have the power to stop the pollution caused by cosmetic chemicals, and hence protect our own health.
