Fascinators are starting to come out in preparation and closer to the Spring racing and Melbourne Cup day.

Over the years since the Melbourne Cup was first founded in 1861, it has gradually become the iconic horse race in Australia. It is the one that stops the Australian nation well and truly in its tracks.

Fashions on the Field have become an important aspect of national Spring Racing Carnivals in Australia. They are helping to attract major sponsors and to provide jobs for hundreds and thousands of people.

All the various aspects of costume we wear individually and collectively have an interesting history. Without a doubt the fascinators evolving style reflects our personalities, our social growth and cultural development.

Cosmetic Chemical and Ecosystem Disruption and Human Health

By Rong Feng Today, I’d like to discuss hazardous cosmetic chemical – BHA and BHT. The chemical components of many products don’t break down and instead accumulate in our ecosystems. Cosmetics and personal care products do their most damage to the environment after they are washed down our sinks. The chemicals are recycled into our lakes, streams, rivers and public water systems. Here are some of the most environmentally damaging chemicals used in cosmetics, including which products you’ll find them in and what effect they have on our ecosystems. For example, t he cosmetics preservatives BHA and BHT also alter behaviour and causes death in fish and shellfish. BHA and BHT also cause genetic mutations in amphibians. BHA and BHT are synthetic antioxidants that are found in many lipsticks and moisturizers. With education and responsible purchasing practices, consumers have the power to stop the pollution caused by cosmetic chemicals, and hence protect our own health.
